HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Adelphi started the scoring in the third inning after back-to-back RBI hits from Michael Stack and Brett Malm.
  • Eric Schindler doubled down the left field line to open the bottom half, and Corey Gibson followed with a bunt single that put runners on the corners.
  • John Borup tied the game at 2-2 with his seventh double of the season, and John Silviano scored him two batters later to give Lynn its first lead.
  • Tyler Curtis tallied his second base hit of the afternoon to give the home nine a 4-2 cushion.
  • The Blue and White managed two more runs in the home seventh before erupting for three runs and four hits in the eighth.
  • Frank Grandinette gave the Fighting Knights four innings on the mound, allowing two earned runs on five base hits while striking three.
  • Donovan Armas hurled the final five frames to earn the win in relief. The right-hander scattered three hits and fanned six Panther hitters.

QUOTABLE

  • "Frank had a really good tempo going, and Donovan stayed in that rhythm. It really set the tempo for our offensive, and we were able to capitalize on a couple of key situations. We also had a couple of stellar defensive plays that were big momentum killers for Adelphi's offense. Tomorrow will be a tough ballgame. Southern New Hampshire is always a quality team that is well-coached, and it will be a great test for us. " – Lynn head coach Rudy Garbalosa

STATS FROM THE GAME:

  • First baseman Thomas Colombo was the only Adelphi batter to record a multi-hit game.
  • Five Fighting Knights recorded at least two hits, with Curtis and Eric Schindler combining for seven.
  • Armas earned his third win of the season, and the right-hander scattered three hits and fanned six Panther hitters.
  • Jonathon Mulford took the loss for Adelphi after giving up four runs on ten hits through 5.2 frames.
  • Michael Ceperano was the first man out of the pen, but no Panther reliever recorded more than two outs.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • The Fighting Knights have posted 10 or more hits in 14 of their last 16 contests.
  • Lynn is 3-1 this season against schools from the state of New York.
  • The Fighting Knights have never lost to Adelphi.
