HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Lynn starter Donovan Armas retired the side in order in the first, paving the way for the offense to provide the first lead of the day.
  • John Borup was hit by a pitch, and Kyle Schindler followed with a bunt single. John Silviano then doubled off the base of the wall in right center to score them both.
  • Silviano came in to score on a wild pitch to give Lynn a 3-0 advantage after one inning.
  • Tampa scratched across two runs in each of the next two innings, moving in front for the first time on an Adrian Chacon single.
  • Ryan Donovan's sacrifice fly in the fifth gave the Blue and White the equalizer, and Kyle Schindler singled home a run a frame later.
  • Alex Turner expanded on the Lynn lead in the seventh, singling to left center to plate second baseman Tyler Curtis.
  • Spartan second baseman Laz Rivera homered to open the eighth, the beginning of a five-run inning that gave Tampa a 9-6 lead.
  • The Fighting Knights refused to go quietly, as Kyle Schindler left the yard in the bottom half to cut the deficit to three.
  • Tampa added two more in the top of the ninth, but Eric Schindler followed his brother's lead and tied the game with a three-run shot that forced the game to extras.
  • The game got away from Lynn in the 11th, as seven Spartan runs crossed the plate.
  • Borup and Silviano each drove in a run in the bottom of the inning before Borup scored the game's final run on a defensive mishap.

STATS FROM THE GAME:

  • Rivera and leadoff man Casey Scoggins combined to give Tampa nine hits, eight RBI, and eight runs.
  • Kyle Schindler gave the Fighting Knights a four-hit ballgame, his first of the year.
  • Silviano and both Schindler's each drove in three runs.
  • Ten Spartan arms teamed up to toss the 11-inning marathon, but it was Bryan Tarricone that earned the victory despite allowing two runs in his lone chapter on the hill.
  • Rigo Beltran took the loss for the home nine, dropping to 3-4 on the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Kyle and Eric Schindler have now homered in the same day three times this season.
  • Tampa is now 5-1 in games that have gone longer than nine innings.

  • Armas' 11 strikeouts are a career high, and he joins Robert Guarnieri as the only Fighting Knights with at least 10 in a single game this year.
