TAMPA, Fla. – The Lynn University baseball team stumbled on Thursday afternoon, falling 6-1 to Delta State University in the first round of the NCAA South Regional Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• An RBI single through the right side put the Statesmen in front 1-0 in the opening frame. 
• The two squads exchanged zeroes through the top of the seventh inning, but Delta State posted a three-spot in the first half to move in front 4-0 and chase Lynn starter Donovan Armas from the contest.
• The home nine managed two more in the next frame to carry a 6-0 advantage into the ninth. 
• Centerfielder Alex Turner provided the Blue and White with their lone run of the game, plating Tyler Curtis from third with a single in the final inning. 

STATS FROM THE GAME:

• Turner finished his afternoon with a pair of base hits, teaming up with Eric Schindler to total five of Lynn's six for the day. 
• Armas took the loss after scattering six hits through 6.2 innings. 
• Southpaw starter Dalton Moats held the explosive Lynn offense at bay, as the Fighting Knights mustered just three hits through the game's first six innings. 
• Jacob Howell and Jake Brumfield combined to finish the game, but the bullpen held up for Moats' 11th win of the year.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

• The Fighting Knights have not been shut out in their last 134 games.
