Box Score BOCA RATON, FLA. – The Lynn University baseball team used their bats to take down nationally-ranked Florida Southern on Friday afternoon. The Mocs put the Fighting Knights on notice with a grand slam in the top of the first, but it the Blue and White responded with shutdown pitching to go along with white-hot bats.

STATS OF THE GAME:
- Donovan Armas, coming off a week where he earned "National Pitcher of the Week", got his first Friday night start of the season. The senior did not have the start he wanted, giving up a grand slam in the top of the first, thanks to two walks and an error, but went on to give up just one earned run the rest of the contest. He now owns a 3-0 record on the season.
- The Fighting Knight bats were on fire, plating 14 runs on 19 hits. Tyler Curtis had a perfect day at the plate, going 5-for-5 with four RBI and crossing the plate himself twice. He also managed to send his second ball out of the park this season. Is average stands at an impressive .390 on the year.
- The hot hitting was throughout the lineup, as eight of the nine starters each recorded a base knock. Patrick Dorrian had three hits in four at-bats, while Miguel Ceballos, Jarren Pinkney, Karl Ellison and Jake Rouse all recorded a multi-hit day.
- Pinkney and Ellison continued to come up with clutch base hits as they combined to knock in six RBI for the Blue and White on the day. Jonathon Corbitt brought in two, while Grandinette and Rouse managed to add one a piece to the box score.
- Armas managed to give up just one earned run on the day, his second of the season, and owns an impressive 0.67 ERA.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- 14 runs and 19 hits were second-highest of the season in each category.
- Four members of the home team were able to pinch-hit off the bench late in the game.
- The Fighting Knights will go for their third straight series victory of the season, along with their first SSC series of the 2017 campaign.
- Armas went eight complete innings of work for the second straight appearance.
- Alec Hernandez finished the day for the Blue and White in his third appearance of the season.
