Baseball's Comeback Attempt Cut Short Against Sailfish

Box Score

JUPITER, Fla. – The Lynn baseball team has had a running theme of late-inning offense this season, and it happened again on Tuesday night, but three late runs in the eighth and ninth innings were not enough to catch the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish, 7-6. The comeback attempt featured back-to-back homeruns by Tyler Curtis and Jonathon Corbitt, but not even adding one more run in the ninth would do the trick, as PBA's Joey Hennessey shut the Fighting Knights down for his second save of the early season.

STATS of THE GAME:

  • Veterans Frank Grandinette and Tyler Curtis were key bats in the offense tonight, each recording two hits a piece (2-for-4 and 2-for-5 respectively).
  • Jake Rouse, despite not recording a hit, still put together key at bats and knocked in one run.
  • Patrick Dorrian provided the Fighting Knight dugout with an immediate jolt in the arm with a triple in the first. Grandinette's double would knock him in for the first run of the game.
  • Jarren Pinkney (HR), Corbitt (HR), Seay and Ceballos also contributed a hit at the plate.
  • Five different pitchers recorded innings for the Fighting Knights, but none of them worked three or more innings. Enrique Perez had the best performance out of the bullpen, pitching 2.2 innings, and just gave up one hit in doing so. The only run given up was unearned.

  • Connor Davis made his first appearance in the Blue and White this season.
  • The Fighting Knights have not been afraid to go to the relief pitchers so far this season, throwing at least four in the past three games.
