No. 23 Baseball Spears Sailfish in Series Opener

BOCA RATON, FLA. – The Lynn University baseball team created separation for the first time in the bottom of the sixth, when the Fighting Knights put up a three spot. That was the beginning of what would be a dominant outing for the home squad, exploding for the 11-2 victory against Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday afternoon.

 STATS OF THE GAME:  
  • Donovan Armas started his sixth game of the season, and was dominant for a stretch of 6.0 innings of work, giving up just one run on five hits while fanning nine Sailfish batters on the day.
  • Enrique Perez and Alec Hernandez finished the final three innings, giving up a combined one run on two hits and four strikeouts.
  • Jake Rouse managed to lead the Blue and White with a 3-for-5 day at the plate with five RBI, two runs scored and the majority of that coming off his fourth homer of the season. Jonathan Corbitt managed to hit his seventh bomb over the fence as well.
  • All of Rouse's hits went for extra bases (two doubles and a homerun).
  • Four different members of the home squad recorded two base hits, and three added a single base hit on the day.
 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE: 

  • Armas now owns a 4-1 record on the season with a 3.08 ERA in six appearances.
  • The Fighting Knights were able to break PBA's seven game win streak, while extending their own streak to five.
  • The Blue and White, with this series opening victory, avenged the 7-6 loss they suffered earlier in the year in midweek action at Roger Dean Stadium.
  • With the victory, Lynn continues its dominant stretch at home, owning a 12-4 record at the Lynn Baseball Field.
  • The Fighting Knights have been a dominant hitting team, and own a team average of .351, slugging percentage of .587, and have sent 40 balls out of the park through just 21 games.
