No. 11 Baseball Hunts Down Warriors in Extra Innings

BOCA RATON, FLA. – The Lynn University baseball team used late inning magic once again, using a RBI single from Karl Ellison in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at 9-9, then a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th for Pat Dorrian to defeat the Warriors, 10-9, on Sunday afternoon.

STATS OF THE GAME: 

  • Newcomer, Willie Seay, led the way at the plate for the first time this season, going 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored. Tyler Curtis, Jake Rouse, Ellison and DJ Daniels.
  • Frank Grandinette, Thursal White, Jonathon Corbitt and Oscar Bustamante all saw action off the bench late in the contest.
  • Rouse and Seay led the team with two RBI a piece. Five other members of the home squad knocked in one run.
  • Curtis led the team with three runs scored in the victory.
  • The Fighting Knights put Victor Danza on the mound to start the game, and he went 4.0 innings, giving up four runs, five walks and a homerun while striking out two. Philip Quinn saw 2.0 innings of work as well. Daniel Nuzzi came in to work the final 4.0 innings, and was dominant, letting the defense work behind him. The junior gave up only two base hits and never allowed a run to cross the plate. He did allow two free passes in the outing.
 
 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE: 

  • This was the first extra-inning victory for the Fighting Knights this season.
  • Seay's four hits in today's game is a season high for the first-year junior.
  • Every starter for the Blue and White recorded a hit on the day.
  • Nuzzi now owns a 2-0 record in eight appearances and owning an impressive 1.65 ERA in 16.1 innings pitched.
  • Hitting streaks: Rouse (13), Dorrian (11), Ceballos and Curtis (5) 
 

UP NEXT: 
The Blue and White welcome in Wilmington on Tuesday for its second-straight nonconference game. First pitch set for 2:30 p.m.
