No. 23 Baseball Explodes Past Griffins

BOCA RATON, FLA. – The Lynn University baseball team scored nine runs in the first three innings to blow past the Chestnut Hill Griffins on Wednesday afternoon. Jarren Pinkney and Pat Dorrian combined to go 7-for-9 at the plate with six RBI, and six runs scored.

STATS OF THE GAME: 

  • JR Hilcher earned his first start of the season giving up two hits, three runs (all unearned) and gave up five walks in his 1.2 innings of work. Philip Quinn came in and put in 4.0 innings of work, giving up just one earned run to pick up the win for the Fighting Knights.
  • Michael Imperato and Alec Hernandez worked the final 3.1 innings and did not allow a run on two hits by the Griffins.
  • Dorrian's bat stayed hot in the contest, going 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBI and crossed the plate four times. Pinkney was right behind him with a 3-for-4 performance, knocking in four RBI and scoring twice. Gabe Martinez equaled his hit total with a 3-for-5 day at the plate. Miguel Ceballos and Karl Ellison also managed to earn two base knocks each in the game.
  • Only one of the five runs that were scored for Chestnut Hill were earned.   
 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE: 

  • The Fighting Knights are now riding a four game winning streak.
  • Oscar Bustamante made his first career start in today's contest.
  • Lynn is now 10-4 in nonconference games this season, as well as 11-4 when playing at the Lynn Baseball Field.
  • Five hits given up today is the second-fewest that the Blue and White pitching staff has allowed this season.
  • Thursal White recorded his first hit of the 2017 campaign.
  • Hitting Streaks: Dorrian (13), Ceballos (9), Martinez (6), Ellison (4), and Pinkney (3)
 

UP NEXT: 
The Blue and White return to SSC play as they host Palm Beach Atlantic on Friday and Saturday for its third consecutive home weekend series. First pitch set for 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
