Tampa, Fla. – The Tampa University Spartans exploded for seven runs in the second and third inning to create permanent separation as they shut down the Lynn University baseball team on Friday night, 10-2.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Donovan Armas did not have the outing the Fighting Knights hoped for, giving up 10 runs (nine earned) with three strikeouts and three walks on 11 hits in 5.0 innings of work.
  • Connor Davis and Alec Hernandez combined to work the final three innings without giving up a run on just one hit and three strikeouts with two walks in the mix.
  • Four different members of the Blue and White managed to record base knocks. Tyler Curtis and DJ Daniels led the way with two each, while Karl Ellison and Alex Turner added one to the boxscore.
  • Curtis and Pat Dorrian (despite not getting a hit) knocked in one run a piece for the Fighting Knights.
  • David LeBron and Christopher Williams from Tampa had dominant stuff on the mound all night, striking out 14 Lynn batters. The visiting team struck out six Spartan batters.
 

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Curtis extended his hitting streak to 1 games. This is his second double-digit hitting streak of the season
  • This game featured two of the Sunshine State Conference's top home run hitters, J.D. Osbourne and Miguel Ceballos. They went a combined 1-for-7 in tonight's game without a home run to add to their total.
  • Alex Turner has caught fire, recording a base hit in five of the past six games.
