Errors Costly in Baseball's Loss to PBA

Jupiter, Fla. – Three errors proved too costly to overcome on Tuesday night, as the Lynn University baseball team dropped a non-conference battle under the lights against Palm Beach Atlantic at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter. Jake Rouse extended his hitting streak to seven games in the contest, while Shayne Fontana and Gabe Martinez each added two hits for Lynn.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Fontana and Martinez's two hits were tops on the team, while Fontana added his first stolen base of the season in the loss.
  • Rouse was 1-for-4 with a walk, run and an RBI and was the only player for the Fighting Knights to both score and drive in a run.
  • Philip Quinn got his first start of the season but shouldered the loss, working just 3.0 innings while allowing three runs—one earned—on four hits and two walks. He struck out one batter in his 70 pitches.
  • Ryan Orender worked 3.0 innings of relief for the Fighting Knights, allowing a lone unearned run while striking out four batters. Anthony Franco worked a pair of scoreless innings, striking out three without allowing a baserunner.
  • Mikhail Cazenave picked up the win for PBA, tossing 6.0 innings with nine strikeouts on 101 pitches while allowing two runs, one earned. Johnnie Schneider picked up his first save of the season with 2.0 scoreless innings to close it out.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Rouse is the only Fighting Knight with a hit in each game thus far.
  • Lynn had a three-game winning streak snapped, its longest streak of the young season.
  • The Fighting Knights are now 0-2 on the season when trailing after six innings of play, as the Blue and White trailed 3-2 following the sixth inning of action in Jupiter.
  • Clocking in at three hours in length, the game was the longest of the young season.

UP NEXT:

Lynn hits the road for the first time this season, heading to Georgia for a three-game set with Columbus State. First pitch on Friday is slated for 4 p.m.
