Eagles Soar Past Baseball in Series Opener

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University baseball team fell behind early and never recovered on Friday afternoon, as Embry-Riddle took the first game of the three-game series by a final score of 8-2. The Fighting Knights twice cut the deficit to two runs, but the Eagles pulled away late with a four-run ninth inning to secure the Sunshine State Conference victory.

STATS OF THE GAME:

  • Shayne Fontana and Alec Ojeda each tallied multi-hit games for the Fighting Knights and drove in one run apiece.
  • Ojeda's RBI came on a solo home run in the fifth inning that got Lynn on the board, cutting ERAU's lead to 3-1 at the time.

The two teams close the series on Saturday with a doubleheader starting at noon. Originally scheduled for Sunday, game two of the doubleheader has been moved up due to potential rain in the forecast on Sunday. Lynn's 11 seniors will be honored with a brief ceremony prior to game two of the doubleheader.
