2022 AVCA All-American Teams

LEXINGTON, Ky. –
Senior Emily Edwards was named a First Team All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Wednesday and a total of four Lynn University players were honored as All-Americans.

Senior Nadia Lindner (Third Team), senior Paige Barash (Honorable Mention) and graduate student Monica Mazzoleni (Honorable Mention) joined Edwards on the All-America teams. The four selections are the most in a single season in program history and marks the fifth time that the Fighting Knights have had multiple honorees in the same season.

Lynn finished 24-6 overall with its third-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. The 24 victories are the second most in a single-season in school history. The Fighting Knights capped the season ranked 10th in the nation in assists per set (12.97), 11th in kills per set (14.14), 29th in hitting percentage (0.246), 22nd in win-loss percentage (0.800), 49th in total kills (1,499) and 50th in total assists (1,375).

Edwards becomes the third first-team honoree for the Fighting Knights all-time and she is the third setter to garner All-American honors. Edwards was one of the country's top players as she finished the '22 season ranked 14th in the nation in assists per set (10.96). She posted the program's seventh-highest total in assists this fall (1,140) and added 98 kills, 224 digs and 64 total blocks.

Lindner, an outside hitter, earns All-American honors for the second-straight season after being named to the honorable mention team a year ago. She finished fourth in the SSC in kills per set (3.41) and points per set (3.91) and fifth in total kills (361). She has 975 career kills and is just the third player in program history to repeat as All-American.

Barash, an outside hitter, was honored with an honorable mention award after leading the Fighting Knights with 367 kills and 3.46 kills per set. Along with her All-American honor, Barash was a First Team All-SSC and AVCA First Team All-Region selection.

The Fighting Knights have now earned five All-American awards at the outside hitter position in the last three seasons.

Mazzoleni, a middle hitter, was named to the honorable mention team after being named to the same team as an All-South Region honoree. A Second Team All-SSC award winner and NCAA South Region All-Tournament recipient, Mazzoneli finished 49th in the country in hitting percentage (0.352) and 125th in blocks per set (0.95).
