Fighting Knights fall to Saint Leo 3-2; Lynn wins series 2-1

Boca Raton, Florida – The Fighting Knights come up short againts Saint Leo 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Marcus Eusebio received his first start of the season against Saint Leo.
  • Eusabio went three up and three down in the second and third inning to keep the game scoreless.
  • Both teams were sluggish to start for the first three and a half innings. Lynn got things started in the bottom of the third, scoring two runs to take a 2-0 lead going into the fourth inning.
  • Ryan Ford smashed a double to center field for the first hit in the inning for Lynn. Anthony Sanabria and Daniel Alfonso capitalized on Saint Leo's mistake to get the bases loaded.
  • The very next at-bat Yuzuki Okamura was walked, bringing home Ford for the first run of the game. A sacrifice fly from Joseph Encarnacion brought home the last run of the inning, with Lynn taking a 2-0 lead after three.
  • Drew Dwyer relieved Eusebio in the top of the fourth inning. 
  • Dwyer throws back-to-back strikeouts to close out the fifth inning and hold Saint Leo scoreless.
  • Dwyer was relived in the top of the seventh inning, finishing with five strikeouts for the game.
  • Saint Leo picked up two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game 2-2.
  • 'The Lions scored one run in the eighth to make it a 3-2 game, going into the ninth inning.
  • Matt Archer was walked in the first at-bat in the ninth inning. Lynn left the tying run on base while losing to Saint Leo 3-2.

The Fighting Knights will be back here at home to take on American International Friday, Mar. 4 at 2 p.m.
