Fighting Knights lose doubleheader to Barry

Boca Raton, Florida - After winning the first game on Friday night 2-1 the Fighting Knights would lose both games of the doubleheader.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):

  • Jordan Winston received his seventh start of the season as the Fighting Knights faceoff against Barry.
  • Lynn would get out to a slow start with Barry going up 4-0 after the top of the first inning.
  • The Fighting Knights would be held scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning. Lynn would get things going with three runs in the inning to make it a 4-3 Barry lead.
  • Mistakes by the Barry pitcher allowed Byron Murray to reach third base without a hit occurring in the inning.
  • Anthony Sanabria would get the first hit of the inning for Lynn, while also bringing home Murray for the first run of the game.
  • With the very next at-bat, Ryan Ford belted a home run to right field to bring home the final two runs of the inning for the Fighting Knights.
  • Drew Dwyer came in to relieve Winston at the start of the sixth inning. Dwyer would throw two quick strikeouts in the sixth inning to start the game, then grounded out the third batter to retire the side in three at-bats.
  • Lynn would hold Barry scoreless up until the eighth inning where Barry would bring in three runs and make it a 7-3 game.
  • The Fighting Knights would battle back in the ninth inning with Sanabria getting hit by a pitch to get things going. Matt Archer would smash a single to center field a couple of at-bats later to put a runner in scoring position.
  • Joseph Encarnacion hit a home-run rocket left field to bring home three runs and make it a 7-6 Lynn deficit. With two outs and nobody on Lynn fell short losing to Barry 7-6.
  • Sanabria and Archer would both have two hits for the game to lead the Fighting Knights. Encarnacion would finish with a team-high three RBIs and a home run.
  • Ford would hit his fifth home-run of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2):

  • Marcus Eusbio got his third start of the season in the second game of the doubleheader against Barry.
  • Both teams would be held scoreless after the first inning, then Barry scored two runs in the top of the second to give them a 2-0 lead.
  • In the top of the third Barry would score an unearned run to give them a 3-0 lead.
  • The top of the sixth inning Barry would score one run to stretch their lead 4-0.
  • The Fighting Knights struggled to get their bats hitting until the ninth inning, but it was to late as they lose to Barry 4-0.
