Fighting Knights take final game of series 9-5 over Nova Southeastern

Fort Lauderdale, Florida – The Fighting Knights would start the game out hot and stay that way as they win the final game of the series over Nova Southeastern 9-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Fightings Knights would come out with an edge in the first inning scoring three runs. After rough starts throughout the weekend Lynn would come out and dominate from the start.
  • Anthony Orrico would get the first hit of the game in the very first at-bat to start the outing. Matt Archer would bunt the very next play, however thanks to a Nova error runners were able to reach second and third with no outs.
  • Byron Murray doubled down the left line shortly after bringing home two runs for the Fighting Knights snd a 2-o lead.
  • Anthony Sanabria would single to right field for the final hit of the inning, while also bringing home the final run to make it a 3-0 Lynn lead.
  • Nova Southeastern would cut into the deficit with one run to make it a 3-1 game.
  • Offense was hard to come by until the bottom of the fourth where Nova Southeastern would score four runs and take a 5-3 advantage.
  • In the very next inning Lynn would score two runs and tie the game 5-5
  • Orrico hit a single to the short stop to get things going, then Murray would double later in the inning to bring home Orrico and the first run of the inning for the Fighting Knights.
  • Murray would steal third, then Yazuki Okamura was walked while Murray scored off a wild pitch to score the tying run.in 
  • After the fifth inning the Fighting Knights would not look back holding Nova Southeastern scoreless for the remainder of the game, while also scoring four combined runs between the seventh and ninth inning to secure a 9-5 victory.
  • Nova Southeastern had self inflicted wounds in the seventh inning, gifting two runs to the Fighting Knights. A single by Murray through the left side to bring home the last run of the game was enough to keep Nova Southeastern at bay.
  • Drew Dwyer closed the game in spectacular fashion going three up and three down, while throwing two strikeouts for the final two outs.
  • Orrico and Murray would lead the way with three hits each, while Murray was the playmaker for Lynn today with a team-high four RBIs. Sanabria would also have a big day with two hits in give at-bats.

The Fighting Knights will continue their road trip against Nova Southeastern on Sunday, Mar. 27 at 1 p.m.
