HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Greyson Fletcher got his fifth start of the season, coming into the game with a perfect 3-0 record.
- The Yellow Jackets had four quick hits over the first two innings with zero runs to show for it.
- The Fighting Knights could not get anything going offensively until the bottom of the fourth inning. Lynn scored two runs in the inning to take a 2-0 lead.
- Byron Murray started the inning off with a walk to get Lynn on base early in the inning. Yuzuki Okamura hit a single to third base to put Murray and Ryan Ford in scoring position. An error by the Yellow Jackets would bring in the first run of the game for Lynn.
- Joseph Rosselli blasted a single to right field, bringing home Ford for the second run of the game.
- Fletcher went three up and three down to end the top of the fifth inning. The Fighting Knights had an offensive explosion with eight runs in the bottom of the fifth. A series of mistakes by the Yellow Jackets helped Lynn get their first run of the inning.
- Yazuka Okamura hit a single to center field, bringing Ford extending it to a 4-0 Lynn lead. The bases were loaded shortly after with errors from the Yellow Jackets.
- Hits by Joseph Encarnacion, Brandon Kruzinski, Anthony Orrico, and Murray helped bring in six more runs. Fightings Knights would score eight runs in the inning and take a 10-0 lead after five.
- The Yellow Jackets got on the board with one run in the sixth inning to make it a 10-1 Lynn lead.
- Drew Clark relieved Fletcher at the start of the eighth inning. Fletcher finished the game with six strikeouts and one run allowed in seven innings pitched.
- American International scored one run in the inning to make it a 10-2 Lynn lead.
- The Fighting Knights took care of business at home with a total team effort. Eight Lynn players recorded at least one hit, while six players would record at least one RBI for the game.
- Encarnacion led the way for Lynn with three hits and three RBIs, along with a two-run home run. Okamura and Orrico were right behind him for Lynn with two hits each, while also picking up one RBI apiece.
- Despite both teams recording 10 hits each, the Fighting Knights made more plays in the final five innings to secure a 12-2 victory over the Yellow Jackets.
The Fighting Knights will be back here at home to take on American International Saturday, Mar. 5 at 2 p.m.
