Fighting Knights fall to American International 7-5

Boca Raton, Florida – Despite outhitting the Yellow Jackets 12-8 the Fighting Knights came up short falling 7-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Jordan Winston received his fifth start of the season for the Fighting Knights. In the first inning, Winston went three up and three down, with a strikeout to close the top of the first.
  • Lynn would find themselves trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the second inning.
  • The Yellow Jackets would have a single run in the third inning to make it a 3-0 lead.
  • In the fourth inning Lynn started to chip away. Yuzuki Okamura got the inning going with a single to right field. Daniel Alfonzo hit a single to left field one at-bat later to get the Fighting Knights in scoring position.
  • A sacrifice fly by Joseph Encarnacion brought home Okamura and the only run of the inning for Lynn. It would be a 3-1 lead for the Yellow Jackets going into the fifth inning.
  • American International would score one run in the fifth to make it a 4-1 lead.
  • The Fighting Knights came roaring back to tie the game 4-4 with a three-run inning.
  • Okamura had the leadoff single to left field to start the inning. Followed by an Alfonzo single to put runners in scoring position.
  • A double by Encarnacion with the very next at-bat brought home the first two runs of the inning for the Fighting Knights. Matt Archer would hit a single to center field, bringing home the tying run.
  • The Yellow Jackets strike back with a two-run seventh inning to retake a 6-4 lead.
  • The ninth inning American International would score one run to make it a 7-4 game.
  • The Fighting Knights would score one run in the ninth inning, due to an Alfonzo double to bring home Anthony Sanabria. Lynn would fall short 7-5 against the Yellow Jackets, with the tying run on base.

The Fighting Knights will be back here at home to take on American International Sunday, Mar. 6 at 2 p.m.
