Fighting Knights fall to Embry-Riddle 15-7

Boca Raton, Florida – The offense was off the charts throughout the game with both teams combining for 22 runs and 27 hits. The Fighting Knights would run out of steam offensively in the bottom of the sixth, while the Eagles kept pouring it on with seven runs in the ninth. Lynn would make a valient effort in the bottom of the ninth, but the deficit was to much to overcome as they lose to the Eagle.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Embry Riddle would start the game on fire with three hits in the first three at bats to take a 3-0 lead heading into the bottom of the first.
  • The Fighting Knights would respond with two runs of their own to cut their defiicit to one. A double by Anthony Orrico to lead off the inning was the spark Lynn needed.
  • Anthony Sanabria would follow with a triple to right field, bringing home Orrico to get their first run of the game. With one out and a runner on third Daniel Alfonzo hit a sacrafice groundball to bring home the final run of the inning and make it a 3-2 Eagle lead. 
  • Brandon Kruzinski blasted a triple to center field to bring home Joseph Rosselli for the tying run.
  • Greyson Fletcher would go three up and three down in the top of the third inning to retire the side. In the bottom of the fourth an Alfonzo double brought home Byron Murray to take a 4-3 lead over Embry-Riddle.
  • A four run flurry by the Eagles in the top of the fourth helped them regain a 7-4 advantage.
  • A lead off single by Sanabria started the inning for Lynn, then back to back home runs to left field from Yazukia Okamura and Murray to tie the game 7-7.
  • In the eight and ninth inning the Eagles would score a combined eight runs to take a 15-7 lead. Seven runs from the Eagles in the top of the seventh pushed the game out of reach with the Fighting Knights up to bat.

The Fighting Knights will be at home for their double header against Embry-Riddle on Saturday, Apr. 9 at 12 and 3 p.m.
