Fighting Knights fall to Anderson (SC) in NCAA Quarterfinals

Gainesville, Georgia - In a tightly contested match, the Fighting Knights fell 3-2 to second-ranked Anderson (SC) in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Teeing off first, Sara Ericsson won her matchup by four strokes. She never led during the front nine and trailed by one stroke heading to the 10th tee. On the 10th hole, she tied the match, then she took the lead on the 11th and never looked back from there. For the round, she shot 75 (+3), while her opponent shot 79 (+7).
  • Camila Madariaga lost her match by five after shooting a 78 (+6) for the round. She fell behind by two strokes on hole three and was never able to get the score closer than that.
  • Adriana Iribarren shot the same score as Madariaga and lose her match by six. She played within one stroke of her opponent for the front nine but fell behind by four on hole 12. She cut the deficit to two with four holes remaining but wasn't able to get any closer.
  • Alice Gatti shot a 77 (+5), losing to her opponent by five strokes.
  • Gatti's loss gave Anderson (SC) the victory in the match, despite Maria Hoyos going on to defeat her opponent to end the round. Hoyos had the best round of any player in the match, shooting a 70 (-2) to defeat her opponent by two.

NEXT COURSE:
This will end the season for the Fighting Knights. They will be back on the course in the Fall.
