FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Lynn University men's and women's swimming teams closed the second day of the 2023 Shark Invitational at Nova Southeastern, Saturday.
The Fighting Knights totaled six top-five finishes on the second day, while the 14
th-ranked Lynn women finished in fourth place (430 pts.) of eight teams competing. The men' team captured seventh place (243 pts.).
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN):
- The 400 medley relay team of
Caterina Momi,
Malaika Schneider,
Luna Mertins and
Laura Dekoninck opened with fifth place in 3:56.30
- Dekoninck posted the best finishes for the Fighting Knights at Nova as she captured second place in both the 100 backstroke (57.11) and 100 freestyle (52.64)
- Dekoninck, Mertins, Schenider and
Lexi Lundell closed the weekend with fourth place in the 200 freestyle relay in 1:37.77
- Mertins was seventh in the 100 backstroke (58.80) and 12
th in the 200 backstroke (2:10.65)
- Schneider took eighth in the 100 breaststroke at 1:07.14
- Momi touched the wall in seventh place in the 200 backstroke in 2:07.94

Claudia Porta finished in ninth place in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.31) and 13
th in the 200 breaststroke (2:30.01)

Sasha Giourtzidou took seventh in the 200 breaststroke (2:27.10)

Amy Evans rounded out the top-10 efforts with 10
th in the 200 butterfly in 2:15.61

th in 3:30.07
- Piotrowicz posted a pair of fifth place finishes in the 100 (57.53) and 200 breaststrokes (2:07.71)

- Tsyfarov was 10
th in the 500 free (4:47.02) and 11
th in the 100 free (46.50)

th in the 100 breaststroke in 59.24
- In the 200 freestyle relay, the foursome of Tsyfarov, Budd, Grabowski and
Spencer Hobbs captured 10
