MIAMI, Fla. – The Lynn University men's and women's swimming teams each closed the second and final day of the 2023 TYR Fall Classic at Florida International University on Saturday. Both Fighting Knight squads captured fifth place in the team standings, while adding 17 top-10 finishes.
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN):
- The 200-yard medley relay team of
Laura Dekoninck,
Malaika Schneider,
Amy Evans and
Katie Laferriere finished in fifth place with 1:49.91
- Dekoninck, Schneider, Laferriere and
Shachaf Bachar powered the 400 freestyle relay team to fifth in 3:38.96
- Bachar was fifth in the 500 freestyle at 5:25.01

Sasha Giourtzidou posted a pair of top-five efforts in the 200 IM (4
th/2:14.93) and the 200 breaststroke (5
th/2:26.06)
- Dekoninck captured her third individual third-place finish as she touched at 2:08.10 in the 200 backstroke
- Schneider took home fourth in the 100 freestyle in 54.46

Julia Delaney finished in fifth place in the 200 butterfly in 2:22.28
HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN):
- The 200-yard medley relay team of
Mike Sickels,
Kamil Piotrowicz,
Maurice Grabowski and
Spencer Hobbs captured fifth place in 1:36.05
- Grabowski,
Ryan Zasas,
Conor Dunne and
Jack Budd closed the season-opening meet with fifth in the 400 free relay in 3:13.79
- Dunne captured fourth place in the 500 free at 4:45.09
- Piotrowicz finished in fourth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:07.36
- Zasas captured two top-10 finishes as he was fifth in the 200 IM (2:01.44) and 10
th in the 200 breaststroke (2:10.82)
- Sickels swam to fourth in the 200 back (2:01.53)
- Grabowski captured fifth in the 100 freestyle at 49.28
