DADE CITY, Fla. – The top-ranked Lynn University women's golf team led from wire-to-wire en route to capturing the 2023 Sunshine State Conference Tournament title, Tuesday. The Fighting Knights shot E, 288 in rounds one and two and closed the final round with a +12, 300 to capture their second league title in three seasons.
Lynn (+12, 876) won the championship trophy by 20 strokes over second place Rollins (+32, 896) and by 24 strokes over third place Tampa (+36, 900). Olivia Gronborg of Nova Southeastern won the individual title at -3, 213.
The Fighting Knights were the only school at even par or better following the first two rounds after they shot E, 288 in each round.
Lynn's +12, 876 is the best three-round score in SSC Tournament history as it topped Nova Southeastern's 17-over in 2018 at Osprey Point. The Fighting Knights broke their own tournament scoring record at Lake Jovita Golf Club after they set the mark at 20-over in 2019.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn led the field in Par 4 (+25, 4.17) and Par 5 scoring (-3, 4.95) and finished second in Par 3 scoring (+4, 3.07)
- The Fighting Knights also led the SSC Tournament in birdies and eagles and finished second in pars
- Three Fighting Knights earned all-tournament honors – junior

- Madariaga led the Fighting Knights and finished tied for second at -1, 215
- She was one of just three players under par and she was second in the field in both Par 4 (+3, 4.10) and Par 5 scoring (-5, 4.58)
- She fired rounds of -2, 70, -1, 71 and closed with a +2, 74
- Ericsson finished in fourth place at +1, 217
- She tied for second in Par 4 scoring (+3, 4.10) and birdies (11)
- Ericsson opened with a -4, 68 and was one of just three players with a round in the 60s
- She closed with rounds of +2, 74 and +3, 75
- Madariaga and Ericsson now have two top-five finishes at the SSC Tournament
- Hoyos took fifth place at +4, 220
- She opened the tournament with a +3, 75 before posting a -1, 71 in round two and a +2, 74 in the final round
- Freshman
Isabelle Schlick finished in a three-way tie for seventh place at +8, 224
- She posted rounds of +3, 75, E, 72 and +5, 77

Alice Gatti was +14, 230 and tied for 22
