GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The No. 1 ranked Lynn University women's golf team opened the 2023 NCAA Division II South Regional with a +9, 297 to sit in a tie for first place following the first round, Monday.
The Fighting Knights are the region's top seed and are tied with sixth-ranked and third seed Anderson for the lead. Nova Southeastern was the region's second seed and fired a +26, 314 to sit in three-way tie for ninth place.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn leads the 12-team field in Par 3 scoring (+2, 3.10), Par 4 scoring (+14, 4.28) and pars (55)
- The Fighting Knights are tied for second in both Par 5 scoring (-2, 4.90) and birdies (11)
- Lynn's has three players inside the top 10 and all five golfers sit inside the top 25 in the individual standings
- Junior
Adriana Iribarren is tied for the lead at E, 72
- She leads the field with 14 pars and is tied for second in Par 3 scoring (-1, 2.75)
- Freshman
Isabelle Schlick is second for the Fighting Knights and she is tied for fifth at +2, 74
- Schlick is tied for the lead in Par 4 scoring (+1, 4.10) and is tied for second in birdies (4)
- Junior
Sara Ericsson is tied for eighth at +3, 75
- Ericsson is fifth with three birdies and tied for eighth in Par 5 scoring (-1, 4.75)
- Junior
Camila Madariaga is tied for 17
th at +4, 76
- She is tied for second in both pars (13) and Par 3 scoring (-1, 2.75)
- Graduate student
Maria Hoyos is tied for 25
th with a +5, 77
- Hoyos will be the first Fighting Knight to tee off in the second round tomorrow at 8:30 am
