GENEVA, Ohio – Lynn University graduate
Luna Mertins earned her third All-American honor in the 100 butterfly as the Fighting Knights capped the third day of the 2024 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, Thursday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mertins finished runner-up in the 100 butterfly in 53.27 and is now a three-time First Team All-American in the event
- She swam a 53.62 in the prelims on Thursday morning
- She is the third swimmer in program history to earn three All-American honors in a single event
- Junior
Laura Dekoninck took ninth place in the 200 free at 1:48.84 after finishing 12
th in the prelims in 1:49.74
- Graduate student
Sasha Giourtzidou finished in 33rd in the 400 IM prelims at 4:30.83
- The 400 medley relay team of Mertins, Dekoninck, sophomore
Malaika Schneider and freshman
Lexi Lundell closed the evening with sixth place and First Team All-American honors at 3:41.12
- The Lynn women remain in fifth place in the team standings with 107 points
