GENEVA, Ohio – Sophomore
Malaika Schneider finished as the national runner-up in the 100 breaststroke to power an action-packed fourth day of the 2024 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Schneider finished second in the 100 breast in 1:01.74, just over half a second behind Celina Schmidt of UIndy
- She qualified for the NCAAs with a 1:02.46
- The second-place finish hands First Team All-American honors
- Graduate student
Luna Mertins captured All-Americans honors after finishing in fourth place with a school record time of 53.95 in the 100 backstroke
- Junior
Laura Dekoninck finished the 100 back in sixth place (54.74) to grab All-American honors as well
- On the men's side, sophomore
Maurice Grabowski was 14
th in the 100 back in 48.10
- Freshman Maxim Tsyfarov was 19
th in the 100 breast prelims in 54.02, while junior
Kamil Piotrowicz was 23
rd in 54.54
