DALLAS, Tex. - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released the 2025 NCBWA Division II All-South Region Awards on Friday and a pair of Fighting Knights were honored. Senior third baseman
Cole Fowler was named the region's Player of the Year while both Fowler and senior relief pitcher
Nathan Shane were named to the All-South Region First Team.
Fowler led the nation in hits per game (1.89) while his .435 batting average led the region and ranked 11th among all DII student-athletes. He totaled 87 hits in 200 at bats, including 15 doubles, three triples and an SSC-best 18 homers. He was the only player to finish the season with over 150 total bases in under 50 games played and his 162 TB ranked eighth in the country. Fowler was one of the hardest hitters to strike out (6.5%) and his 1.280 OPS led the SSC.
Shane was named to the All-South Region First Team as a reliever after leading the SSC with nine saves over 19 appearances. The senior from Tampa, Fla. pitched to a 2.70 ERA over 46.2 innings pitched. His 2.70 ERA and .224 BAA each ranked third in the conference. Shane did not allow an earned run in 12 of his 17 relief appearances.
Fowler is the fourth Fighting Knight to be named NCBWA South Region Player of the Year, joining John Silviano (2016), Sal Giardina, Jr. (2014) and Anthony Boza (2012). Shane is the first Lynn reliever to be named to NCBWA All-Region since Bill Mendek in 2014.
