Fowler, Shane excelling in pro ball

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Former Lynn University standouts Cole Fowler and Nathan Shane have continued their baseball careers at the professional level this summer, following a spring season in which they helped lead the Fighting Knights to the NCAA Tournament.

Fowler signed with the Washington Wild Things of the Frontier League in July and has made an immediate impact, hitting .370 with a .950 OPS through 10 games, including his first professional home run.

He joined the Wild Things after one of the most productive seasons in program history. The All-American and Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year led the nation in hits per game while batting .438 with 19 home runs and a 1.282 OPS.

Shane signed with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the MLB Draft League last week. In two appearances, he has allowed just one earned run over 3.1 innings, good for a 2.70 ERA.

An All-SSC First Team selection as a relief pitcher, Shane led the conference with nine saves this past spring while recording a 3.47 ERA and 9.3 strikeouts per nine innings.

Fowler and Shane join Blake Mayberry—who signed in early June and has since tallied 14 hits while playing multiple positions—as the second and third Fighting Knights to reach the professional ranks this year.

The Blue and White finished the 2025 season with 30 wins, a program-record 19 SSC victories, and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. A list of all Fighting Knights who have reached pro ball can be found here.
