EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Lynn University men's swimming team delivered a historic night on the national stage Wednesday as Blue and White senior
Maurice Grabowski captured the NCAA Division II National Championship in the 50 freestyle before helping the Fighting Knights to a record-breaking victory in the 200 medley relay.
Grabowski's electrifying performance highlighted a milestone moment for the program, as the senior touched the wall in 18.97 seconds to secure the first individual men's national championship in Lynn University swimming history. The time also established a new Sunshine State Conference record, further cementing Grabowski's place in the record books.
Moments later, the Fighting Knights continued their championship celebration as the relay quartet of Grabowski, Max Tsyfarov,
Vitaly Kostin and
Enzo Constable delivered a dominant performance in the 200 medley relay, claiming the national title while shattering the NCAA Division II record with a time of 1:24.15.
With the pair of victories, Lynn extended its remarkable championship streak, as the Fighting Knight swimming programs have now produced a National Champion in four consecutive seasons.
Lynn also carried momentum from earlier in the meet when Mariele De Santis competed in the 200 individual medley, finishing 15th overall with a time of 2:04.07. The women's 800 freestyle relay team of
Malaika Schneider,
Ally Webster,
Adel Pal and
Luz Tapia also delivered a strong performance, placing 12th nationally with a time of 7:25.83.
