BOCA RATON, Fla. – Former Lynn University standout
Cole Fowler has taken the next step in his baseball career, signing with the New York Mets organization as the decorated Fighting Knights third baseman returns close to home as a native of Mantua, New Jersey.
"Signing with the Mets means the world to me," Fowler said. "Becoming a professional baseball player has been a dream of mine ever since I first started playing the game. I've worked extremely hard to reach this point, and it's an incredible feeling knowing that all the work and sacrifices have paid off."
Fowler capped one of the most dominant seasons in program history as a senior in 2025. The Blue and White infielder earned All-American recognition from three major organizations, including First Team honors from ABCA/Rawlings and Second Team selections from both D2CCA and NCBWA, following a historic campaign. He became the first Fighting Knight to earn All-American recognition since 2018 while also being named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year along with multiple regional honors.
In 2025, Fowler started all 48 games for the Fighting Knights and posted a staggering .438/.472/.810 slash line, collecting 92 hits, 15 doubles, three triples and 19 home runs while driving in 64 runs. His 92 hits led the nation in hits per game and helped him finish third nationally in total bases per game. The New Jersey native also ranked third in Lynn single-season history in batting average (.438), hits (92), home runs (19), slugging percentage (.810) and total bases (170).
Fowler's offensive surge helped power Lynn to six consecutive series victories and an NCAA Tournament berth, cementing his place among the most accomplished hitters in program history.
"Cole had one of the most special seasons we've ever seen here at Lynn," said head coach
Rudy Garbalosa. "His work ethic, consistency at the plate and leadership made a huge impact on our program. We're incredibly proud of him and excited to see him get the opportunity to continue his career with the Mets organization."
The power-hitting infielder produced numerous standout performances throughout the season, including five multi-home run games, a cycle against No. 6 Florida Southern, and a seven-RBI performance in an 18-9 win at Embry-Riddle. Fowler also closed the season on a 14-game hitting streak, batting .590 with 10 home runs and 32 RBI during the stretch while earning SSC Player of the Week honors three consecutive times.
Following his time at Lynn, Fowler gained professional experience with the Washington Wild Things during the summer of 2025, where he hit .341 with four home runs and 20 RBI in 25 games during the club's division-title push.
Prior to joining the Fighting Knights, Fowler helped lead Rowan Gloucester to the 2023 NJCAA National Championship, earning First Team All-Conference and First Team All-World Series honors after batting .416 with 24 doubles and 10 home runs.
Now returning closer to home in the Northeast, Fowler begins the next chapter of his career in professional baseball with the Mets organization, continuing Lynn's tradition of Fighting Knights advancing to the professional ranks.
