Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's seventh-ranked men's soccer team fell 3-0 to No. 17 Rollins in its Sunshine State Conference home opener. The Fighting Knights drop to 5-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in the SSC.
Rollins (4-1-1, 2-0-0 SSC) grabbed control of the game in the 37th minute of play as Brad Welch scored the first of his three goals. Coming off a corner kick, the Tars got three quick shots off in succession before Welch knocked in the rebound from Danny Salazar's shot.
Miscommunication in the back led to the next two Rollins' goals. The first came as LU's keeper called off the defense for a loose ball but failed to come out to collect. Chase Neinken took advantage and tapped the ball back to Welch, who chipped his shot into the open net at 39:19. The last goal came in the waning moments of the half after two quick passes at the top of the box and the keeper out of net. Welch again nailed the open opportunity.
Lynn was outshot 19-8 with the Tars taking 10 corners to LU's five.
