Box Score 4 Columbus, Ga. – Lynn University's softball team fell in a double-header series against Columbus State, dropping game one 9-2 before losing 5-3 in extra innings. The Fighting Knights' record moves to 6-22 overall.
Callie Darlin stifled the Cougars' (22-6) offense in game two, holding CSU to one run through seven frames before allowing four runs in two extra innings. Lynn grabbed its first lead of the day in the top of the eighth off a sacrifice fly but Columbus State responded with a run in the bottom half to knot the game at two.
Utilizing the international tie breaking rules by putting a runner on second to start the inning, the Blue & White went back up 3-2 with the chance to pull out the victory. A lead-off walk put runners on first and second for CSU before Morgan Staffins belted a three-run walk-off home run.
Game one saw Columbus State score early and never look back as it put one run on the scoreboard in the first and four more in the second en route to the 9-2 win. Marianne Johnson earned the loss in the complete game.
