Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla.- Lynn University's 14th-ranked baseball team improved to 29-10 with a 4-2 victory over Ave Maria (19-31) in a midweek matchup on Wednesday afternoon. Robert Guarnieri threw seven innings allowing two hits and one unearned run to improve to 4-0 on the season while Kyle Schindler collected his fifth save of the season.
After six scoreless innings the Gyrenes put a run on the scoreboard first when Rico Soto scored on a throwing error by Lynn's Guarnieri as he attempted to pick off a runner at first giving Ave Maria a 1-0. The Fighting Knight's responded in the bottom half of the frame when a wild pitch would advance Ryan Carmona all the way across the plate from second base and a throwing error by Giddens scored Albert Lefran for a 2-1 Lynn University lead.
In the bottom of the eighth inning Lefran reached on a throwing error by AMU's shortstop scoring two more Fighting Knights runs, both unearned.
K. Schindler came on to pitch in the ninth inning and found himself in a in a jam with runners on first and second and no outs. An RBI groundout by Christian Snachez plated a run for the Gyrenes but Schinder sent Andy Hernandez down on strikes for the final out.
Guarnieri struck out four batters in seven innings of work allowing just two hits. Jonathan Eisdorfer threw a scoreless eighth inning giving up just one hit while recording one strikeout. Schindler's one inning of work tallied his fifth save of the season allowing one earned run on a hit with one strikeout.
Carmona and Lefran both collected multi-hit games going 2-for-4 and 3-for-4, respectively. Additionally, Lefran tallied the only RBI of the game for the Fighting Knights.
