BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's swimmers did not want to leave their final home meet of the 2016 season without a victory for their two seniors and the Fighting Knights kept their promise by winning the Inaugural Sprint Invite with a score of 705 points. The Blue and White claimed victory in 11 of the 13 events.

How it Happened:
- Lynn placed first with a score of 705 with East Stroudsburg (473) second followed by Millersville (401.5), California (Pa.) (350) and Lock Haven (278.5).
- Lynn started off strong by winning the first event, the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:51.45, three seconds better than second place, and never looked back.
- The Fighting Knights took first and second in the 200 free with senior Thalie Carmigniani posting a time of 1:55.29 and Catalina Galea a time of 1:58.72. Alanna Carey (2:09) and Valerie Samaniego (2:18.31) also competed.
- Megan Carlson set the pace in event three, winning the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.31. Kaitlin Armstrong (1:04.81) placed third while Carey (1:08.39) claimed seventh place.
- Reigning NCAA Division II National Champion Rebecca Matthews posted a NCAA 'B' cut time in the 100 breaststroke, tapping the wall in 1:05.15, more than four seconds ahead of the next competitor. Desiree Priemayr (1:10.17) and Samaniego (1:18.04) also competed.
- With little time for a breather, Matthews took first in the 50 butterfly in 26.63, ahead of teammate Carlson (27:34), Tieri Erasito (27.78) and Hannah Walsh (29.69).
- Kasey Swartley was the top finisher for the Blue & White in the 50 free, posting a time of 26.31 to place third. Armstrong was fifth with a time of 26.55, Catalina Berraud-Galea timed in at 27:02 and Hannah Walsh clocked in at 28.71.
- Carmigniani earned her second victory, this time in the 100 free with a time of 54.00, just ahead of Carlson (55.91) who placed second. Swartley (57.72) and Armstrong (58.39) also finished within the top-six.
- Armstrong took second in the 50 back with a time of 30.39 while Berraud-Galea (31.66), Carey (32.30) and Samaniego (33.15) all logging top-10 finishes.
- Lynn won out the final the final five events starting at event nine, the 50 breast. Matthews took first (30.44), with Priemayr (33.18), Samaniego (35.10) and Swartley (35.97) also swimming.
- Berraud-Galea just missed a 'B' cut time in the 500 free where she placed first with a time of 5:07.23, followed closely by Carmigniani (5:13.68). Carey (5:45.65 and Walsh (5:46.70) took eighth and ninth.
- Megan Calrson (59.41), Erasito (1:01.86) and Priemayr (1:02.32) finished one-two-and three in the 100 fly and Walsh (1:06.12) took sixth.
- Lynn again took the top-thre spots in the 100 IM, with Matthews (57.89) leading the way ahead of Carmigniani (1:02.09) and Priemayr (1:03.25). Erasito (1:06.79) and Samaniego (1:10.17) also participated.
- The Fighting Knights held on by three-tenths of a second victory in the 200 free relay, touching the wall in 1:43.72.
Beyond the Boxscore:
- Lynn has won both swimming events it has hosted this year; topping Rollins 168-94 in November.
- Rebecca Matthews has not lost an event this season.
