FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Lynn University women's tennis team opened its 2022-23 schedule on Friday with the first day of the Shark Invitational at Nova Southeastern University. The Fighting Knights posted two wins in both singles and doubles action.
SINGLES DRAW:
Quarterfinals
- Lynn junior
Barbora Cibakova took on Polina Dymochka of Hillsborough Community College and won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0
- Senior
Federica Pezzana also battled a Hillsborough Community College player in Paula Cabrer-Pericas, but suffered a 6-4, 6-2 loss
- Sophomore
Greta Schieroni fell to Hillsborough's Arina Gamretkaia 2-6, 7-5, 10-5 tiebreaker
- Freshman
Kristen Younes made her collegiate debut with a win over Yvette Schmucker of Keiser University, 6-4, 6-3
- Sophomore
Zofia Podbiol endured a 6-3, 6-4 loss to Keiser's Isabela Perez Flores
DOUBLES DRAW:
Round 1
- The team of Schieroni and Younes took on the team of Julie Razafindranaly and Eva Goncharov of Nova Southeastern and lost 7-5
- Cibakova and Podbiol won an exciting match against Hillsborough's duo of Yoana Dudova and Camilla Mitolo with a 7-6 (7-4 tiebreaker)
Round 2
- Cibakova teamed with Podbiol in open doubles action and defeated Cabrer-Percias and Rocio Martinez Azcarraga of Hillsborough, 6-3
