MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference released its 2024-25 Men's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll on Tuesday, ranking the Lynn University men's basketball team ninth out of 11 schools. The Fighting Knights received 33 total votes, just five points shy of eighth place.
The men were picked 10
th in the 2023-24 poll but finished fourth in the conference at 11-9. This year, the team is led by first-year Head Coach
Bill Morosco, who spent the past two seasons at Indian River State College (IRSC), leading the Pioneers to 49 wins and two NJCAA South Atlantic District Men's Basketball Quarterfinal appearances.
Morosco has a number of incoming transfers who will immediately contribute, as well as a stable group of returners from last year's solid campaign. New to the roster this season are guards
Drew Feinstein, Baydon Iuli,
Antoine Jacks,
Osei Price,
Carson Smith and
Jordan Wilkins, as well as forwards
Leo Beath,
Sveinn Birgisson,
Isaiah Davis and
John Roland. Returning from last season's 17-win season are guards
JP Baron,
Noah Kattan and
Ryan Weeks, along with forward
Austin Vick.
Nova Southeastern was named the top team in the preseason poll with 98 votes (8 first place), while Florida Southern placed second at 93 votes (3 first place).
The Fighting Knights open the season at home against St. Thomas (Fla.) on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2:00 pm.
