AUSTIN, Texas – College Sports Communicators announced its 2023-24 Academic All-America women's tennis teams on Tuesday and a pair of Fighting Knights were selected to the Second Team, as junior
Greta Schieroni and sophomore
Salma Djoubri were each honored.
Schieroni, an International Business Management major, was one of eight members of the Division II teams to boast a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her incredible achievement in the classroom was complimented by a 12-6 record in singles play, including 7-2 in the SSC, and a 14-5 record in doubles. The junior from Turin, Italy was also named All-SSC Second Team Singles for the second consecutive year. She finished the season as the 43
rd ranked singles player and, along with teammate
Deniza Marcinkevica, held the 17
th ranking in doubles.
Djoubri had a 3.50 GPA while majoring in Sports Management. The academic success by the sophomore from Caudebec Les Elbeuf, France, augments one of the best individual tennis seasons by a student-athlete in program history. On the court, she went 18-1 in singles, including a 13-0 record against Division II opponents, en route to being ranked the No. 1 singles player for the entire 2023-24 year. The ITA Cup National Champion recently added the ITA National Player to Watch award to the numerous accolades she has received this season.
Schieroni and Djoubri are the fifth and sixth student-athletes in program history to earn a CSC Academic All-America nomination. The Fighting Knights women's tennis team were Sunshine State Conference regular season champions and finished the 2023-24 season ranked 4th in the nation after going 17-4.
