A member of the Lynn University Athletics family from 1985until his retirement in 2011, Abreu served as head coach of themen’s golf program from 1993-2005, was an assistant coachwith the men’s soccer program from 1985-2010, served as headcoach for the women’s golf team from 1992-93 and at the end,assisted with the men’s golf program from 2005-11. During his time with the Fighting Knights, the Madeira, Portgual,native captured one men’s golf national title, threemen’s soccer national crowns and helped two individuals,women’s golfer Genevieve Laverdure and men’s golferHenrik Nystrom, claim individual national championships.  Ashead coach of the men’s golf team, Abreu led Lynn to itsfirst NCAA National Championship and started a string of 12consecutive NCAA appearances for the program.  If that werenot impressive enough, Abreu assisted teams recorded 10 SunshineState Conference titles, 111 All-American selections and countlessNAIA and NCAA appearances.   Abreu made his mark as amidfielder playing professional soccer for 12 clubs in 10 differentcountries, including South Africa, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Japan,Australia and the Philippines during a 21-year period. He alsorepresented Japan and Hong Kong in five all-starmatches.
