Laying the ground-work for the men's golf program, Cherry was afour-year letterwinner for the Fighting Knights (1984-87). Atwo-time NAIA All-American and NAIA Scholar Athlete, he was theteam MVP and captain his senior year when Lynn finished the seasonranked No. 1 in the nation. Cherry won seven individual titles withthe Blue & White, including the 1985 NAIA Districtchampionship, qualified individually or with the team in four NAIANational Tournaments and was runner-up for the West BurnhamSportsmanship Award in 1985 and 1987.
